Overview

The Media Resource Center (MRC) of the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church is a place for local churches and church members to find resources that are needed for ministry.  Resources are available on a borrowing basis, similar to any library.  The Media Resource Center offers over 2300 DVDs and videos.

 There are several different ways in which resources can be obtained, including: 

  • Onsite - The MRC is open between 8:30a.m. and 4:30p.m. weekdays for browsing, previews or pickup.

The web site will allow persons to search for appropriate materials by title, author, subject, and descriptive words.  Follow the prompts to register a membership or to reserve available resources.  It is suggested that orders be placed two weeks before a resource is needed.  The Media Resource Center will send the materials about ten (10) days before the showing date whenever possible.

An Annual Membership fee of $40 will be charged to all United Methodist Churches within the boundaries of the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference.  Other churches will be billed a yearly fee of $50.  Regular rental rates for use are $3 for single DVD or tape and $7 per media kit.

The Media Resource Center’s success depends on getting materials to viewers when they are requested.  This only works when users return loaned materials promptly.  It is expected that resources will be returned the day after each scheduled showing or immediately upon the completion of a video curriculum.  The Center must be notified if an extension is necessary.

The viewer is always responsible for return postage, and return address labels are included in each package.  Also, if materials are lost or damaged while in your possession, replacement costs are expected.

With some of the more popular resources, you may be asked to mail items to the next viewer, instead of returning it to the Media Resource Center.  The director will contact you with the proper addresses and the next dates of use.
