Communication Changes Announced

By Dawn Lynn Check, Communications Officer

Spreading the Word and making disciples in the 21st Century has its challenges.  Using all means possible to reach all people possible is our call.  To that end, the Conference communications team is re-plotting our course.

The first week in December, we introduce our new website.  The new has a cleaner look and is easier to navigate.  We've added a Google search engine which will improve the ability of users to find what they are looking for.

December also means the last issue of the monthly Cross and Flame bulletin insert and Interlink newspaper.
On May 31, UMR publications, which printed and mailed the Interlink, ceased operations. Since then, the Conference section of the newspaper has been available online at Most of the information is posted on the website in a more timely fashion. Therefore, we will no longer lay out a newspaper and post it as a printable resource.

We will strengthen our focus on social media and digital communication.  In a time when a monthly news publication becomes outdated even before the ink hits the paper, we are shifting to more immediate means of communication.  Follow or like us on Facebook at and Twitter at

We hope to introduce a new print publication designed for church leaders in March.  The communications team is finalizing the strategy for the resource piece.

As always, news and resources will be provided to clergy and church leaders through the weekly WPAUMC e-news and the Mission e-news. Subscribe to either or both by emailing
