A little bit of spare change can equal a big difference!
Small = mighty in the fight against malaria. The people of Muhleman Memorial UMC in Braddock, PA may be few in number, but they are mighty of spirit and in generosity!
Over the last six months, the 12 faithful attendees of Muhleman have been collecting their loose change in support of Imagine No Malaria. What they couldn’t imagine was that this simple act would eventually net $1,250! This translates to 125 children impacted by their efforts - more than 10 lives saved for each member in church on Sunday!
Rev. Don Scandrol, District Superintendent of the Pittsburgh District wrote in response:
“Some days seem particularly bright. That was my reaction when I found at my desk [your gift] for the Nothing But Nets/Imagine No Malaria Campaign! The kindness of your gift and the scope of your efforts have greatly touched me… Hopefully one day [the children of Africa] will be able to take for granted the absence of malaria in the way that we now are not cognizant of the former scourges of polio or smallpox. Certainly, that will happen because there are bighearted people – like the folks of Muhleman Church – who have seen the need and responded accordingly.”
2 Corinthians 9:12-15 (NIV): This service that you perform is not only supplying the need of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hears will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
Start a loose change campaign (noisy collection) at your congregation and be surprised at the blessing poured out – both near and far.
