DESCRIPTION:The Conference Connectional Ministries and Finance departmen
 ts are making Financial Peace University available as part o
 f a stewardship education emphasis this year.  Financial Pea
 ce University, based upon the teaching principles of Dave Ra
 msey, is an opportunity to understand that sometimes we don'
 t have an income problem and giving problem, but we have a s
 pending problem. FPU is a 13-week series designed to move pa
 rticipants through baby steps of saving, eliminating debt, c
 reating and sticking to an allocated spending plan, saving f
 or emergencies and removing our dependence on credit cards. 
 Financial Peace University lines up nicely with our Wesleyan
  foundations of living below our means, saving, and giving a
 ll that we can.  FPU also translates well into many of the s
 tewardship messages that we have been sharing together.  Her
 e is what one person said about FPU.  "Almost every class he
 lped us to look at our finances in a totally different way. 
 It answered questions that we had in the past, but were prob
 ably too embarrassed to ask. For the first time in 15 years 
 of marriage, we are on the exact same page with our finances
 . This class has truly been a blessing to our marriage and o
 ur family."Financial Peace University will be offered in sev
 eral locations this winter.    Pastors are invited to attend
  and the annual conference is providing scholarships to offs
 et the cost.  FPU is $100 per family.  With the scholarship,
  the first 100 clergy and spouses can attend for $50.   Sche

 emic/institutional racism.  Assist in gaining a deeper grasp

 to fully include persons with disabilities. TheUnited Method
 ist Church promises open doors, but many people withdisabili
 ties and their families find barriers to full life in the ch
 urch.All churches are asked to receive a Special Offering on
  DisabilityAwareness Sunday. The gifts fundgrants to help We
 stern PA congregations with accessibility projects that allo
 wall people to attend worship and other church activities as
  they seek to enrichtheir faith and establish Christian comm
 unity.On Disability Awareness Sunday, take a tour of your ch
 urchfacilities. United Methodist churches are required to pe
 rform an accessibilityaudit each year. But it's important to
  also consider programs and thecongregation. Is your church 
 accessible and welcoming to those with mobilityissues? Do yo
 u provide amplifiers for the hearing impaired? Would a famil
 y withan autistic child or someone with Down's Syndrome feel
  welcome? Does yourchurch school use methods that could help
  children with different learningstyles or abilities feel we
 lcome? Thespiritual resiliency necessary to overcome limitat
 ions is empowered by God'slove, experienced through the supp
 ortive caring and mutual faith of a churchcongregation.  Eve
 ry door we open allows more people to freelyparticipate in t
 he worship of our Lord.   The Western PAConference Disabilit
 y Concerns Committee administers the grants to helpchurches 
 fund accessibility projects. To apply, a church should send 
 a letterof intent on church letterhead, with a brief descrip
 tionof the project and the anticipated cost and time of comp
 letion. When theproject is complete a second letter confirmi
 ng completion must be sent to thecommittee. The committee wi
 ll reimburse the church 10% of the cost, up to a capof $1000

  reduce the risk of abuse of children and vulnerable adults.

 staurants near Bakerstown UMC or, if you wish to bring your 
 lunch, the Fellowship Hall will be available for use.Even if
  you have had Safe Sanctuaries Training, in a  local church 
 setting or otherwise, this training is important. Credit for
