Get on Board Anti-Racism Workshop
When it comes to becoming an anti-racism institution
addressing our Gospel mandate to confront the realities of systemic/institutional
racism, the Holy Spirit is powerfully moving in our annual conference. The
commitment is growing, and more faithful disciples are becoming significantly
involved. Is this the time that God is nudging you to become more
involved?
The Conference Anti-Racism Team will host a Get on Board workshop on Saturday,
February 11 at Ambridge First/Fellowship United Methodist Church, 649 Maplewood
Avenue, Ambridge PA 15003.
This workshop will:
- Explore a common language related
tosystemic/institutional racism.
- Assist in gaining a deeper grasp ofsystemic/institutional
racism as a reality different from individual prejudiceand bias.
- Provide the opportunity to gain a perspective onhow far
we have come and how far we need to go to be a genuinely anti-racistUnited
Methodist Conference.
- Provide information concerning members of ourAnnual
Conference Anti-Racism Team and what they are doing.
- Engage participants in conversation about thevision
of the Anti-Racism Team.
- Offer opportunities for workshop participants to become more deeply engaged in a variety of ways and determine the next steps they are called or willing to take. One possibility will be to consider participating in a 2.5-day Systemic Racism and Analysis Workshop.
Sign-in begins at 9:30 a.m.; sessions begin at
10 a.m. and departing prayers will be at 2 p.m. Lunch will be
provided. There is no charge for this event.
