Message Overviews + Small Group Questions

#1 :: Masterpiece                                        

Overview: Overwhelm students with the magnitude and love of God, how minuscule we are and yet how precious we are to God and His purposes. You were created on purpose, for a purpose, and with a purpose.

Scripture: Psalm 139, Psalm 8, Ephesians 1

  • What did you think or feel when you heard about sand, stars, and water?
  • When you hear that you were created on purpose, for a purpose, and with a purpose, how does that impact you?
  • What is a masterpiece to you?
  • Do you view yourself as a masterpiece? Why or why not?
  • What do you think it says about the character of God that he consider you a masterpiece?
  • Challenge: Memorize Ephesians 2:10 this weekend as a group

#2 :: Identity Amnesia                                    

Overview: It’s easy to forget who God says we are. This message will look at who dictates our identity by comparing what and who the world says we are versus what and who God says we are. 

Scripture: Ephesians 3, 1 John 3

  • What does a “dead” person look like? Describe them like Paul does.
  • What are ways and times that you forget who God says you are?
  • How can you remember who God says you are?
  • What does an “alive” person look like?
  • What would it look like for you to live like a dearly loved child of God (attitudes, thinking, actions)? Be specific.
  • Challenge: Memorize Ephesians 2:10 this weekend as a group.

#3 :: Renegade of Redemption                            

Overview: Christ is enough. Because of this, we can choose Him and his offered redemption and choose to live like Him. Jesus was a renegade. Will you also be a renegade in this world? 

Scripture: Luke 19 (Zacchaeus)

  • How would you describe a renegade?
  • What did you learn about Zacchaeus, especially as a renegade?
  • Do you need to experience Jesus’ redemption in your life in any way right now?
  • Would you consider yourself a renegade for Jesus?
  • What in your life could be different so you could be a renegade of redemption in this world? 
  • Challenge: Memorize Ephesians 2:10 this weekend as a group.

#4 :: Ordinary Enough                                    

Overview: Our days are ordinary enough.  Jesus invites us partner with him in our everyday ordinary lives and use them to change the world.

Scripture: Romans 12

  • What’s your experience (highs and lows) of reading your Bible and praying?
  • How do you experience God the most? (ex: nature, worship, serving, community, solitude/silence, art, etc…)
  • What needs do you see in the world?
  • What gifts have you been given?
  • How can you take your ordinary days as use them as a renegade for Jesus?
