Come to these Special Events!

By Jackie Campbell, WPAUMC News

What does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)

While these words from the prophet Micah seem clear, it’s sometimes difficult for people of faith to apply them today. Learn more about some of the tough issues related to justice and mercy at events scheduled the weekend of Oct. 10-11.

The Rev. Jim Winkler, the executive in charge of the UM Board of Church and Society, will travel from Washington, DC, to meet with United Methodists and friends at three Western PA locations. Identical sessions focused on Poverty, Hunger and the Needs of Children will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, at First UMC in Erie from 9 am to 1:30 pm, with lunch included for $5; and at Christ Community UMC in Butler from 3 to 8 pm, including dinner available for $8. On Sunday, Oct. 11, Winkler will preach at St. Paul’s UMC in Allison Park. After lunch at 12:30 pm, a 2:30 pm seminar session will focus on working toward peace.

Other fall events for you to consider are:
